WTA 2009
|

A team from England went to Wobulenzi Town Academy (WTA) in July 2009 to continue the work supporting the building up of WTA as a safe place to provide education to deprived and refugee students from the North of Uganda.
There was ongoing building work at the school, where ServeDirect enabled the hiring of local building labour to build a new classroom block.
The team's mission this time was to continue to serve the students' needs through painting, concreting, electrical installation, building, teaching, pastoral support and most important of all: fundraising.

Wobulenzi Town Academy
A brief ServeDirect update
23 November 2009
From Jerry Dugdale
A quick update following my return from Uganda. Most of you will be aware that we have just moved as a family to Kampala - We are still staying with the Balls (thank you Phil & Michèle) but I am pleased to report a house and transport have now been sorted so we should soon be ready to both get more stuck in and to welcome visitors.

Starting position
When the team left Uganda following the successful 2008 trip, we had refurbished building 1 so we had 2 good quality classrooms and office meeting room, which also contained school resources (books, stationery, science and sports equipment etc. At the end of building 1 we also had a classroom that although not finished had safe electrical wiring and following subsequent painting and organising also became a serviceable room for teaching. (See pictures of what we did).
