Dear Carole (from Boston and Kampala),
... fellow passenger on the BA flight from Entebbe to Heathrow on 27th April...
Thank you so much for the $20 - as you know, the money will go a long way here at the bookshop in Bukoto. At the moment, we need new books for Biology O-Level, for Computer Studies for S5 and for Agriculture. Thanks to you we have been able to go out and get them. They will be widely read and pored over - especially as EOT exams are coming up soon. Hope you had a good journey back to Boston and that all is well with the family here. It was lovely to talk to you - next time you are back in Uganda, please come and visit the WTA library - you'll be very welcome!
Best wishes, Elspeth

The dates for the November team trip to Wobulenzi have been announced: 16 November - 2nd December 2012.
The project will focus on developing the Primary Resource Centre as a service to local primary schools, aiming to help them increase the ability of their pupils to gain entry to secondary school.
The trip will involve a number of activities depending on the interests and skills of volunteers. As we always say at Serve Direct: there is always something to do and volunteers will be busy whatever their background. Volunteers may self-fund, fund-raise, or do both, in order to cover costs, and we always treat fundraising as a team effort. We welcome volunteers from wide range of backgrounds, and previous charity experience is unnecessary (one of our aims is to give people this kind of opportunity).
Speak to Nick, Simon or Jerry if you want to express an interest, or fill out our enquiry form.

Happy New Year to you all.
The New Year has started at a rush over here as it was straight back into building and maintenance at the school - trying to get ready for the new academic year which starts on 30th January. And it is seriously hot, especially after England at this time of year.
So, here's the thing. Up to now we have left the outside of the 6 dormitories unpainted for two reasons. Firstly to see how they would fair (as no paint means less future maintenance) and secondly we had no money! Well, suffice to say they need painting as without paint the render has a tendency to become a bit crumbly in the sun.
